Catrena Lewis, CCS, CCS-P, CPCO, CPC, CIC, CPC-I, CRC, CHTS-PW has over 20 years of HIM experience. She has worked in various healthcare settings primarily in the areas of medical coding, billing, revenue cycle management, compliance, auditing, and education. Catrena began her career as a Health Information Technician performing assembly & analysis of medical records before transitioning into the coding arena.
Catrena holds a Healthcare Technology Certificate from Santa Fe College, a B.S. in Criminal Justice from University of Central Florida, and is currently in her final year of the Juris Master program at Florida State University. Her passion lies in the area of Compliance. She also holds a variety of certifications from both nationally recognized organizations that span from Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) to Certified Professional Compliance Officer (CPCO).
Catrena currently serves as the Audit & Education Manager at KIWI-TEK. She also owns a successful consulting firm (Access Quality Coding & Consulting) where she provides education, training, expert witness, and a host of other services. Catrena has also served as Subject Matter Expert for a variety of professional organizations such as the Georgia Hospital Association, Florida Health Information Management Association, and the Mid-Atlantic Telehealth Resource Center (MATRC) among others. She is dedicated to volunteerism and has served NEFHIMA, FHIMA, and AHIMA in several volunteer roles ranging from Mentor to Board Member.
Catrena is currently NEFHIMA’s President and prides herself in helping to grow the next generation of health information management professionals.

Julia McCurry, JM, RHIA, CHTS-IS, is a Health Information Management Services (HIMS) Manager in Completion, Compliance and Escalation across all Mayo Clinic sites. Julia’s responsibilities include oversight of daily operations for the enterprise HIMS Record Review and Analysis teams, and serves as secretary of the practice-led Medical Record Review Subgroup. Julia is a Program Director for Health Information Management Services internships for the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences. Julia earned a bachelor’s degree in health sciences majoring in Health Information Management from the University of Cincinnati and Juris Master degree in Health Care Regulation from Florida State University College of Law. Julia served as President of the FHIMA Northeast Region from 2019-2020 and is serving as Past President during 2020-2022.
In addition to working with some of the best providers and allied health professionals in the country, Julia continues volunteering for charitable organizations close to her heart while promoting health information education and continuous professional development.
Treasurer: Stacey Prince
Stacey Prince, RHIT is still relatively new to the HIM field, having graduated from St. John’s River State College in 2018 with an A.S. in Health Information Technology. Currently, she works as a cancer registrar for Ascension St. Vincent’s, with plans to sit for her CTR credential in the summer of 2022.
Stacey is passionate about medical records, most specifically when it comes to using correct and complete data to improve patient outcomes. She also has a passion for educating patients and professionals about information sharing and patient privacy.
Stacey believes in continuous professional education and networking and has served as a FHIMA mentor for the past two years, ushering in new professionals and preparing them for success in the field.
She is proud to serve as the treasurer for Northeast Florida Health Information Management Association, and is excited for all the educational and volunteer opportunities that will be coming her way in the future.

Charlene Banta, EdD, BRMP, CPHIMS, RHIA began her career in Health Information Management 30 years ago. For the past decade she has worked in IT while also being engaged in curriculum design and instruction. She received a dual master’s degree in Health Information Management and Information Technology Leadership, a bachelor’s degree in Leadership Studies, and a doctorate of education focused on Transformational Leadership.
Dr. Banta serves as the Health Information Technology Program Director and Instructor at St. Johns River State College in St. Augustine. She is also a member of the Information Technology team at Mayo Clinic. She’s a Registered Health Information Administrator, Certified Healthcare Technology Specialist – Implementation Manager, Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems, holds the ITIL Foundation certificate in IT Service Management, the certificate in Effective College Instruction, is a certified change practitioner, and is a certified CPHIMS instructor. She holds the rank of Instructor in Healthcare Administration with Mayo Clinic’s College of Medicine, was granted the Excellence in Teaching certificate with Mayo Clinic’s Academy of Educational Excellence, and was awarded the 2019 FHIMA Educator Award. Her work to improve healthcare using technology was presented at the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare Convention in Paris and has been featured in AHIMA’s Perspectives in HIM.
Dr. Banta serves as a mentor in the FHIMA Mentoring Program and at The College of St. Scholastica, her alma mater.

Japera K. Denson, MBA, RHIA is the Health Information Technology Program Coordinator and an Assistant Professor at Florida Gateway College in Lake City, Florida. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Informatics and Information Management from Florida A&M University and a Master of Business Administration degree in Health Care Management from Saint Leo University. Japera is currently earning a PhD in Educational Leadership at Florida A&M University. Japera has over fourteen years’ experience in healthcare and formerly served as a Director of Health Information Management and Privacy Officer. Japera is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA). She is an active member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), its Florida chapter, FHIMA, and currently serves as a board member of the Northeast Florida Health Information Management Association.
Japera enjoys attending national and local conventions, serving on regional and state boards, and expanding her knowledge of healthcare, educational leadership, and innovative pedagogical practices.

Jeremy Cary, RHIT, CCS is a new professional in the Health Information Management field. He currently works as a coder for various settings. He serves as NEFHIMA’s secretary and hopes to reciprocate the support from the HIM community he was provided throughout his training and time as a HIM student and professional.
Nitta is a member of FHIMA where she serves as AHIMA Chief Delegate. Additionally, she is a member of several Advisory Boards. She values the power to inspire greatness in others and enjoys being a conduit for their professional growth
Nitta is the Director of Health Information Management at UF Health Shands. Her professional experience includes over 35 years in health information management with 25 years in management. She received her Master’s in Business Administration at Saint Leo University in March 2010.

Secretary and Treasurer are two-year office terms.
Nominations are received by the Nominating Committee and anonymous votes are collected electronically in the last two months of the fiscal year.
NEFHIMA's current fiscal year runs July 1 through June 30.
